In Feng Shui it is determined that there are five different house types:-

1.            Wang Shang Wang Shui

This type of house is good for people and good for money. You do not need to do anything.

2.           Double Sitting

This type of house is good for people, but not so great for money. Needs to have water and mountain outside the back of the house.

3.          Double Facing

This type of house is good for money but not so great for relationships and health. Needs to have water and mountain outside in front of the house.

4.          Reversed

This house is not good for people or money. Needs to have water outside in the back and a mountain outside in front of the house.

5.          Locked  

This house is where the Qi is locked for a certain period of time.  It may be a period lock (twenty years) or annual. What this means is that a house experiences a difficult time period when money and relationships are restricted. The Chinese call this an "Imprisoned Star".

The solution for a locked house is to add a significant amount of water outside the house. A large fountain, pond or swimming pool is what is needed. If adding water outside is not possible, water placement in an appropriate area may fix this lock.
